Norway's environmental targets

Norway's environmental targets are set by the Government and the Storting (Norwegian parliament). The current list includes 26 targets, split between six priority areas: biodiversity, climate change, pollution, outdoor recreation, the cultural heritage and the polar regions.

Information on the targets and progress towards them

For each target, indicators have been developed to make it possible to track developments and progress towards the targets. The environmental directorates under the Ministry of Climate and Environment are responsible for assessing whether satisfactory progress is being made.

You can expand the list of priority areas on the left-hand side of the page to see the targets for each area, and click on each target to see the indicators associated with it.
