Scenarios for regional climate change
Scenarios for climate change are made with the help of global climate models. These global models need to be downscaled, in order to estimate in more detail the impact of climate change in our part of the world.
The research project RegClim has created climate scenarios for the Nordic countries, the surrounding seas and parts of the Arctic. Estimates have been made for mean temperature and precipitation changes in Norway, surrounding seas and parts of the Arctic for the period 2030 to 2050 and until the end of the 21st century.
New report on climate change
Cicero and the consulting group COWI have made a new report on climate change in the Nordic countries. This was commissioned by the Climate group under the Nordic Council of Ministers. The report gives a comprehensive evaluation of what a temperature rise of +2 degrees in 2100 will entail for the Nordic region. The report sheds light on the vulnerability of the environment and describes impacts on sea levels, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, energy and power production, energy demand, construction and building, transport, tourism, natural disasters, indigenous people, health and biological diversity.
